What is a Sister State?
Sister States are relationships created by official agreements between the Governor of Iowa and the Governor's counterpart in the Sister State. The agreements establish an active relationship which strives to improve the mutual understanding of our diverse cultures. Iowa Sister States then conducts cultural, business, agricultural, banking, medical and other types of programs and exchanges to further these relationships.
Is Iowa Sister States part of the government of Iowa?
Iowa Sister States is a non-profit organization that receives part of its funding from the State of Iowa. Other sources of funding include individual and corporate donations, and grants from entities such as the U.S. State Department.
