Iowa Sister States volunteers participate in committees based upon their country of interest. Each sister state has a committee, which meets regularly to develop plans for exchanges and programs. Committees meet at least quarterly and the meetings are open to anyone who wants to attend. Meeting notices are sent via e-mail to all volunteers. Each year those interested in a particular committee elect a chair and vice chair. They organize the meetings and prepare the meeting minutes, which are distributed to all interested parties. The committee must approve any projects associated with a particular country before they can be endorsed or funded by Iowa Sister States.
In addition to the Country Committees, Iowa Sister States has four Standing Committees:
Executive Committee
Nominating Committee
Program Review
Resource Development
Executive Committee
This is comprised of the President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and the chairs of other standing committees. It meets prior to all board meetings, and other times as necessary. It approves the board meeting agendas and acts with the authority of the board between board meetings.
Nominating Committee
The Board of Directors shall appoint a Nominating Committee from among its directors. This action shall be no later than the first Quarterly Meeting following the Annual Meeting of each year. The Nominating Committee will consist of no fewer than three (3) no more than five (5) members. The fundamental responsibility of the Nominating Committee is to make recommendations to the board of Directors for all vacancies that occur in the Corporation.
